District 2 is considered the most diverse district in the city of Fort Lauderdale and thus creates the challenge to solve a diverse set of problems. My first priority is to ensure the safety and welfare of our citizens. I have accomplished this with strategic intervention techniques. As a public safety advocate I established a monthly crime prevention meeting which resulted in the newly designed police street crimes unit. I participated in a ride along with the unit during the creation of an action plan and closely monitored the new initiative which I found to be very impressive.
Public safety itself does not just involve serious crimes it involves many aspects that relate to your comfort level, ranging from bike riding to fire fighting. Due to my understanding of these different levels of safety and my strong desire to ensure your quality of life, both the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 31 and Fort Lauderdale Firefighters, Local 765 have endorsed my candidacy for re-election.
I have achieved stronger code enforcement and the development of a foreclosure plan which I hope the new commission will embrace and work with me to strengthen, if the circumstances warrant.
Neighborhood crime prevention measures have increased and as I have attended Homeowner association meetings I have used that time to educate and raise the awareness of our residents.
As Vice Mayor I have had the opportunity to work first hand with the (CVC) community volunteer corp. These very special volunteers have worked on projects throughout District 2 in an effort to improve our neighborhoods.
