ECONOMY
What it means to you.

There is no doubt now that the worldwide economy is in a difficult state. Local government is no exception and will not be without its challenges. How we handle the future of Fort Lauderdale over the next several years is paramount. Government can either be proactive or remain stagnant.

I have chosen to be proactive by working towards the goal for more accountability, keeping taxes low, and continued essential services.

Yes, I questioned change orders because change orders are synonymous with delay and cost overruns, which cost money. I requested that the city attorney and the city auditor be present in all negotiations with vendors so that our best negotiation team could always be at the table. Yes, I requested lower heights, less mass, adherence to the shadow ordinance, additional landscaping, parking requirements, and traffic mitigation, to be required on our future development because I believe we can achieve a better product for our city.

Fort Lauderdale is a wonderful city and my roots run deep, which is exactly why it is so important to me to make sure our residents and visitors alike have an exceptional experience.
Our two leading industries, Tourism and Marine need to be carefully monitored and supported to ensure their continued success which is so vital to our city. I am committed to both industries as we move forward into the next three years and beyond.

The difference you have seen with my style of governing is clear. I have a record you can see, touch and feel. In just a few short years, the standards have been raised and embraced. We must continue to strive for excellence and I will continue to be a strong advocate for economic development and enhancements throughout our great city.
Despite the failing economy we will endure as a city armed with the experience and knowledge of several years of fiscal responsibility. I can provide the leadership that will be needed to ensure we survive this tough economic downturn and land firmly on our feet.
