As a teen and young adult growing up in Fort Lauderdale, Charlotte attended both Nova Middle School and Stranahan High School. In their free time Charlotte’s family loved to travel. Sailing was the main means of transportation and due to the nature of the charter business; trips with the traveling public were always the highlight of the voyages. In the early 60’s these trips exposed her family to various people from around the world. The opportunities that came from these early adventures were abundant. The vessel itself appeared in movies and TV series throughout its lifetime and presently serves as an artificial reef off Fort Lauderdale beach. Charlotte and her family also appeared in many of these features as well. Two transatlantic crossings and one airplane ride later the die was cast. Charlotte was meant to travel. Both her parents had encouraged her to become a teacher due to her innate ability to work well with her younger siblings and neighboring children in order to help to guide them through tough times. Charlotte pursued that goal and decided she could always teach but travel and learning about different countries and cultures was her choice. With limited amount of funds to travel, Charlotte decided to apply to the airlines. The road less traveled became the sky more traveled. After a 20 year career Charlotte retired that part of her life.
