In 1992 Charlotte retired and with three children of her own decided it was time to settle down and give back to the people and city that served as her home for all these years. Her family and community took 1st priority and for the first time Charlotte had not worked since age 16. Charlotte’s children all boys had a fulltime cheerleader their mom, dedicating all her resources to their growth and development. As a family this crew attended sports, school activities and had a multitude of pets. During this time Charlotte also volunteered and served on many charitable, civic boards and started a company dedicated to promoting the motor sports industry which her older sons were involved in. Time flew by and before she knew it the boys were grown and on their own. They were educated, healthy and happy what more could any parent want.
Not quite ready to bring out the rocking chair and with her keen interest in her community, coupled with the enduring support of her husband Charlotte step it up a notch and decided to run for public office in 2003. This effort landed an appointed position to the City of Fort Lauderdale’s Planning and Zoning Board for a three year term. In 2006 her goal was met and she became a full time City Commissioner in her hometown Fort Lauderdale, Florida with the support of her friends and neighbors. Today in just a few short years serving on the commission Charlotte has achieved much. For her achievements please go the “Promise Kept” link on this website and thank you for reading my story. “I hope my story helps you to better understand why and how I am where I am today.”
